WILBURTON DIGGERS
Coach: TROY BULLARD
7-4
Wilburton aims to build on last year’s 7-4 campaign by sharpening every phase of its game. Bullard says they are “working towards continuing to build off of last year and get better at every aspect of the game,” reflecting a focus on incremental improvement rather than overhaul. With five offensive and six defensive starters returning, the Diggers expect continuity to keep them in playoff contention.
Offensively, Wilburton will lean on a power run identity out of a heavy backfield look that can shift into spread sets. Bullard describes the base as “Full backfield, beast look, shift into a twins and trips look,” built to emphasize the run game and “manage football and sticks.” Sophomore QB Roman Brinlee (5-10, 155) and sophomore RB Samuel Bambeck (6-0, 195) headline a young backfield, running behind senior lineman Rowdy Paxton (5-10, 200) and sophomore tackle Lariat Hammons (6-0, 280), with junior WR Battle Brooks (5-10, 155) and senior WR Logan Prock (6-1, 150) providing perimeter options.
Defensively, the Diggers base out of a 3‑4 that stresses pursuit and inside leverage. Bullard notes they are a “3-4” outfit that wants “11 men to the ball” and to “force [the] ball inside,” using their linebackers and interior linemen to squeeze running lanes. Senior LB Evan Forwoodson (6-0, 205) leads a front seven that also includes senior OLBs Kolby Valenzuela (5-7, 155) and Drey Franklin (5-9, 170), plus junior DLs Bryce Tubbs (6-0, 190) and Jax Taylor (6-0, 210) and junior LB Eric Jimenez (5-8, 170).
