2026 Ada Cross Country Preview – Presented by Vision Bank

ADA COUGARS

Coach: Leslie Landrum

Ada’s cross country program is working to define its competitive ceiling, and there is optimism surrounding the direction of the program and the commitment shown by its young athletes. The 2026 season will be an important opportunity for the Cougars to continue building toward long-term success. The focus remains on developing strong day-to-day habits, increasing participation and creating a culture that values consistency, accountability and steady improvement.

Head coach Landrum believes the foundation is already taking shape through a group of athletes who are willing to put in the work. Tyce Harrison is one of those runners expected to play a significant role moving forward. Landrum describes Harrison as “a really hard worker” and is eager to see what his sophomore season brings. After gaining valuable experience as a freshman, Harrison enters the year with a better understanding of the demands of cross country and the potential to make a significant jump in both performance and confidence.

Another athlete helping set the tone is Maeli Manwell. Landrum praises her as “an awesome young lady” who is heavily involved in school activities while remaining a dedicated student-athlete. Her ability to balance multiple commitments while maintaining a strong work ethic makes her a positive example for her teammates. Those qualities are often found in successful distance runners, where discipline and consistency can be just as important as talent.

As the Cougars continue to grow, athletes like Harrison and Manwell provide a solid foundation of effort, leadership and buy-in. While results will ultimately be measured on race days, Ada’s coaching staff believes the program is moving in the right direction. With a young core gaining experience and embracing the process, the Cougars hope to establish lasting standards and build momentum for the future.
