QUINTON SAVAGES
Coach: BRIAN HAYNIE
9-3
Quinton comes into 2026 looking to build on a 9-3 season and push deeper into the playoffs. The Savages return six starters on each side of the ball, giving fourth‑year head coach Brian Haynie a solid core of experienced contributors on which to lean. Haynie likes the trajectory of the program and believes this group has the pieces to improve on last year’s postseason finish if it continues to grow and stay healthy.
Offensively, Quinton operates out of a multiple spread look with one‑ and two‑back sets, using tempo and a no‑huddle approach to stress defenses. Senior quarterback Bret Bray (5-9, 140) returns to guide the attack, surrounded by senior weapons such as running back Trentyn Shamblin (5-11, 195), tight end Clay Thompson (6-2, 233) and receiver Jaden West‑Powell (6-3, 165). Senior lineman Mason Thompson (5-10, 230) and sophomore tight end Kaden Sustairre (6-1, 185) help solidify the front and edge of the formation. The goal is to be able to run the ball effectively while still throwing it with confidence, using spread spacing to create favorable matchups in the run and pass games.
Defensively, the Savages base out of a 3‑2 front and want to be very disciplined and aggressive. Shamblin leads the unit at linebacker after two years as a starter, while Sustairre, who started 12 games as a freshman and led the team in tackles, returns at linebacker as an underclassman anchor. Clay and Mason Thompson bookend the line at defensive end, and Bray and junior Miles McKee (5-11, 150) patrol the secondary at defensive back. Haynie emphasizes playing fast, swarming to the football and creating turnovers out of that five‑man front.
Shamblin is Quinton’s VYPE Top 100 nominee after starting as both a sophomore and junior and making an impact at running back and linebacker. The staff praises his physical running style, soft hands out of the backfield and knack for making plays on defense, while highlighting Mason Thompson for his leadership as junior class president, line caller and mentor to younger players. With a balanced spread scheme, returning physicality on defense and proven leaders at the skill and line spots, Quinton has the foundation to stay near the top of its class again in 2026.
