Q&A with Tupelo’s Briesan Bastible – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Vintage Drug Co.

YPE: What grade are you in, and what sports and positions do you play?
 Briesan Bastible: I am a senior. I play baseball as shortstop, point and shooting guard in basketball, and I run track.

VYPE: Who in your life has helped shape you into the person you are, both in and outside of sports?
 BB: My family as a whole have shaped me the most.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?
 BB: Mr. David Nobles is my favorite teacher. He was my English teacher throughout high school. He is a good teacher overall.

VYPE: Who do you look up to for inspiration, and what lessons or qualities stand out to you?
 BB: Jesus. He inspires me to keep going no matter what. Having faith means things will work out the way they are supposed to.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
 BB: Aiden Walkup, we started out as teammates at a young age and have become best friends.

VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?
 BB: My favorite part about representing my school as an athlete is getting the opportunity to play the games that I love.

VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?
 BB: the best advice anyone has given me is that hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard.

VYPE: Which professional athlete do you look up to and why?
 BB: Mookie Betts. The way he is so versatile around the field but yet so good at the plate makes me look up to him.
