Ada’s Kylee Witt – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Keith Cosby Shelter Insurance

Enjoyment and purpose are at the heart of everything senior Kylee Witt does for Ada girls’ tennis. “My personal goals this season are to have fun and bring glory to God,” Witt said. “It’s my senior year, so I want my last season to be enjoyable!”

On the court, Ada’s expectations remain high. “I think the whole team has a goal of doing well at state,” she said. “To achieve that, each member of the team works hard at practice and puts in the work outside of practice as well.” Witt believes their support for one another is a major asset. “I think the team’s biggest strength right now is being supportive of each other and rooting each other on,” she said.

Her role at singles centers on reliability and smart shot selection. “My personal role as a singles player is to be consistent,” Witt said. “Being able to start the point and keep it in play is especially important in singles.” When facing an opponent, she leans on precision instead of power. “When facing an opposing defense, I just make sure I don’t hit the ball straight to them and use placement over power,” she said. “It’s easy to get frustrated and hit the ball straight into the net.”

Off the court, the Cougars keep things light. “Something fans or outsiders may not know about the team is how unserious we are off the court,” she said. “We listen to the Pitch Perfect soundtrack on the way to tournaments and make AI generated ‘game day’ posts making fun of the boys team.” Music is a big part of that routine. “My go-to hype song before a game would be anything off of our tennis playlist,” Witt said. “Since my sophomore year, we’ve collectively put together a Spotify playlist of some fun songs to listen to on the way to the tournaments and on the way back.”

Her career already includes a standout highlight. “My favorite memory in an Ada uniform so far was getting third in 4A Girl’s Tennis State my sophomore year!” she said. Looking ahead, Witt knows what she wants her impact to be. “When I graduate, I want my legacy at Ada to be a content and consistent player who supported her team and loved what she played,” she said. “My plans after high school are to major in kinesiology and become a physical therapist.”
