Ada’s Lakievin Richardson – Football Spotlight – Presented by Ada Smile Place

Every football team needs a player who can be counted on when the lights are brightest. For Lakievin Richardson, that’s the type of teammate he strives to be. “My personal goals heading into our 2025 season is to be a reliable teammate to count on.”

As a team, Ada’s approach to preparation this offseason has shifted in meaningful ways. “We prepared different by knowing how to trust the process into being the best we can be together.”

That trust is turning into transformation, and Richardson says it’s easy to see. “Biggest improvement I’ve seen in our team is that we do everything for the person beside us.”

A team like Ada doesn’t just set goals—they chase them with urgency and intention. “Goals that we have for this year are having fun with our guys as much as possible but also know when to lock in, making it to the State Championship game, and also being able to look back in a couple years and being able to say we gave it all we had. Going to work every day in the offseason and having every guy possible there when no one else is watching but ourselves helps us tremendously to achieve these goals.”

Chemistry has been one of Ada’s greatest weapons. “What I think the team’s biggest strengths is our connection and bond we have that no other team has.”

Richardson’s versatility stands out—he contributes on both sides of the ball as a wide receiver and strong safety.

He brings a student-of-the-game mentality to every snap. “Things I look for when reading the defense is how many receivers are on both sides of the ball. If there is a tight end in the game, make sure to locate him. When the play is being played, watch the QB’s eyes but also do your assignments you are provided with.”

Game day has its own rhythm, and Lakievin thrives in it. “Personally, I prepare myself for games by listening to music or dancing to music we listen to in the locker room with my teammates.”

Mindset matters, and for Richardson, it’s about more than competition. “Every time I step onto the field, my mindset is to do whatever it takes to win while also striving to be the best version of myself.”

He hopes his legacy lives far beyond touchdowns and tackles. “On the field, I strive to be the best wide receiver to ever come through Ada football and to earn All-State honors as a reflection of that dedication. Off the field, I hope people remember me as someone who could make others smile, even on their toughest days—someone who led with heart, positivity, and purpose.”
