COALGATE WILDCATS
Coach: ZAC CATER
2-8
OFFENSE
Coalgate returns to the field with a determined and experienced offense. Under the guidance of head coach Zac Cater, the Wildcats are looking to improve significantly from last season. “Our guys have put in a lot of work this offseason and have really bought in to what we are doing. We are looking for our numbers to grow quite a bit and have a lot of people coming back,” Cater said. The offense will be led by standout wide receiver Tristin Trevathan (6-0, 155, Jr.), who had 1,400 total yards and 14 touchdowns last season. Alongside Trevathan, key offensive players include wide receiver Tate Diaz (6-2, 150, Jr.), who recorded 50 receptions for 950 yards and six touchdowns, and running back Rowdy Hemphill (5-9, 190, So.), who carried the ball 130 times for 458 yards and six touchdowns. The offensive line will be anchored by returning starters NeKoda Wainscott (5-11, 260, Jr.) and Kyler Woods (5-6, 190, So.). “Base Offense is the spread; make the defense defend every blade of grass,” Cater added. With nine returning starters on offense, the Wildcats are poised to make a significant impact in the upcoming season.
DEFENSE
The Wildcats’ defense will feature a 4-2-5 base formation, focusing on pressure and versatility. The defense will be anchored by middle linebacker Zeak Marlow (6-1, 200, Jr.), who recorded 121 tackles, four tackles for loss, and onesack last season. Key defensive players include outside linebacker Bryson Stowe (5-9, 150, So.), who had 47 tackles, seven tackles for loss, and four sacks, and defensive back Tristin Trevathan, who recorded 53 tackles and oneinterception. Other important contributors are defensive back Tate Diaz, who had 19 tackles and three interceptions, and linebacker/defensive lineman Kyler Woods, who recorded 75 tackles and two tackles for loss.
