Broken Bow’s Kate Hammonds – Cheer Spotlight – Presented by James Hodge Dodge of Broken Bow

At Broken Bow High School, Kate Hammonds embodies the essence of dedication and school spirit as a senior captain cheerleader for the Savages. Her passion for cheerleading is not just about the routines and stunts; it’s about the support and victory that drive her. “My love for the support is what motivates me. I love cheering and especially love winning, so I put those two things together and strive for the best outcome.”

Kate’s cheerleading journey has been marked by unwavering commitment. “It has taken a lot of hard work, dedication and time,” she noted. “Everything takes practice and if you want to be good at it, you have to put in the time, work and energy.” This dedication is evident in her impressive achievements, including a notable highlight: “I got invited to cheer at the US Army Bowl in December of this year.”

Her success is also supported by a network of influential figures. “My family is my biggest support system,” Kate said. “They always push me to be my best while always being there to pick me up.” In addition, Mr. Lewis has played a crucial role in her high school career. “He is always pushing me to be my best. He has also taught me some very valuable life lessons and how to handle a difficult situation.”

Beyond cheerleading, Kate is actively involved in numerous campus activities, including the FFA livestock showing team, Key Club, Spanish Club, Pep Club, Top 10%, National Honor Society and the American Junior Brahman Association. “Showing Brahman cattle has been the center of my life and is truly my greatest joy,” she said.

Looking ahead, Kate plans to attend Oklahoma State University, majoring in animal science with aspirations of pursuing a degree in Pre-Vet and joining the OSU co-ed cheer team. “I take great pride in representing the Broken Bow Savages and feel truly honored to be on the sidelines cheering for the Savages,” she shared.

Kate Hammonds is not just a cheerleader; she is a symbol of pride, dedication and community spirit at Broken Bow High School.
