CHANDLER JOSLIN
ANTLERS HIGH SCHOOL
No matter the season, you’re sure to find Antlers senior Chandler Joslin playing a sport for the Bearcats. Right now, it’s football where Joslin can play wide receiver, running back and defensive back.
“He’s one of our better players and a real leader for us,” said head coach Dustin Beasley. “He’s a three-year starter who brings a real toughness to the game and encourages his teammates as he leads by example.”
Chandler plays football and baseball and played basketball his freshman season, took the last two years off but plans to play again this year. Out of those three, football is his favorite.
“I like football the best because I like hitting people and catching balls. I’ve played since I was in third grade and have loved it ever since,” said Joslin.
One of his role models growing up has been Odell Beckham Jr., especially when OBJ was in his prime.
“I guess I just liked the way he played especially when he was at the top of his game.”
At 5-7 and 160 pounds, Chandler admits that one of the biggest challenges for him in football has been his size.
“I’m not real big so I have to make up for it with quickness and speed. This year I’d like to have at least five interceptions as one of my goals.”
Among the highlights in his time as a Bearcat was a game last year against Valliant where he had over 100 yards in offense. A typical football week will find Chandler often coming in early before school to lift or watch film, go to school and practice and then to his job at a local lumber mill. He credits his mother as being one of his biggest fans and motivators because she’s always pushing him to be his best. Chandler says when he has spare time he likes to hunt and hopes that after he graduates he can play football somewhere at the next level.
