SMITHVILLE LADY WARRIORS

COACH: Ashten Williams

Record: 26-3

OUTLOOK

After finishing 26-3 last season, the Smithville Lady Warriors are entering the new year with a clear focus and high expectations. Head coach Ashten Williams, now in her seventh season, has built a program defined by hard work, discipline, and championship goals. “Our team enters the season with one thing on our mind and that is the state tournament,” said Williams. “We are coming off a great season and returning players with experience. We are ready to get back to work and compete at a high level this year.”

Leading the charge is senior guard Adalie Keiss (5-11), a two-time MC6 All-Tournament selection. “Adalie is an offensive threat for our team—she can knock down the three-point shot, mid-range jumper, as well as post up and finish under the basket,” said Williams. “She is also stepping into the leadership role this year as a senior, and I expect her to do a great job of leading our team back to another state tournament.”

Alongside Keiss is a talented and balanced group that gives Smithville versatility at every position. Junior guard Beth Youngblood (5-8), junior post Annbra McDaniel (5-8), and junior guard Tallica Howell (5-6) provide the Lady Warriors with strength, energy, and defensive grit. McDaniel also serves as the school’s FFA Treasurer and sets the tone with her dedication. “She is a hard-working athlete who goes above and beyond for her teammates,” Williams said.

Sophomores Hailee Johnson (5-5) and Allysen Williams (5-7) headline the underclassmen to watch this season. “Hailee is the point guard for the Lady Warriors and does a great job of taking care of the ball under pressure,” said Williams. “She has a smooth three-point shot and is quick on defense.” As for Allysen, Williams sees her as a key offensive weapon. “Allysen is an offensive threat on the court and smart on defense. She’s also the team leader in assists,” Williams said. “She was the MC6 All-Tournament MVP and All-Conference MVP.”

Rounding out the roster are Whitley Nichols (5-8), Kynlie Keiss (5-5), Aubree McDaniel (5-10), Kolbie Cogburn (5-5), and Chloe Belknap (5-6)—each bringing depth and competitiveness to the floor. Nichols, in particular, embodies the team’s culture. “Whitley works hard both on and off the court, sets a good example for the younger athletes, and is an excellent student,” said Williams.
