OFFENSE
Wilburton is stepping onto the field this season with a renewed sense of focus and determination to turn things around. The Diggers will run a versatile offense under head coach Troy Bullard’s guidance. Key offensive players include wide receiver Floyd Clark (6-1, 160, Sr.), quarterback Braiden Grossnicklaus (6-2, 175, Jr.), and running back Jason Wilkett (5-10, 170, Jr.). The offensive line is strengthened by seniors Hudson Williams (6-0, 240, Sr.) and Gunner Hawkins (6-3, 225, Sr.), along with junior Jasper Hawkins (6-0, 180, Jr.). With have several returning starters who have shown great leadership and commitment, the Diggers aim to be more competitive and dynamic on offense this season.
DEFENSE
The Diggers’ defense, coordinated by Jonathan Taylor, will base out of a 4-3 formation with an emphasis on aggressiveness and physical play. The Wilburton defense will focus on being tough and creating turnovers. The defensive line is led by senior Tristan Lawrence (6-4, 210, Sr.) and sophomore Evan Forwoodson (5-9, 210, So.). In the secondary, Troy Johnston (5-9, 170, Jr.) and Austin Brooks (5-5, 145, Jr.) will provide solid coverage. The linebacker corps includes Wyatt Ward (6-1, 200, Jr.) and defensive end Hunter Pate (5-10, 180, Sr.). With seven returning starters, the Diggers’ defense is expected to be a stronger unit this season. The coaching staff includes Jonathan Taylor (DC), Dalton Shumate, Jonathan Lowder, Zac Royer, and Johnny Wilkett.
