McAlester’s Spencer Stinchcomb – Baseball Spotlight – Presented by Patriot Auto Group of McAlester

As a three-year starter for McAlester, Spencer Stinchcomb has made a name for himself as a dependable second baseman and leader. “I’ve loved the game since I was young,” he says, reflecting on how his baseball journey began.

Stinchcomb credits much of his passion for baseball to his family. “My biggest influences are my parents and family. They’ve always supported me and pushed me to be the best I can be,” he shares.

This season, Stinchcomb is optimistic about the team’s potential. “The chemistry is going to be better than last year, with a bunch of young guys coming up to fill in some spots,” he explains. “It’s going to be the best chemistry it has been in the four years I’ve played for McAlester.”

As a senior, Stinchcomb sees his role as more than just his position on the field. “My role is being a leader for the young guys coming up, staying positive, and picking my teammates up when they need it,” he says. His goals are clear: “I want to make it to the state tournament and win the state championship. I also hope to be better than I was last year.”

One of his favorite memories from last season was a walk-off win against Tulsa Edison. “That was a huge memory for me,” he recalls.

When asked about the importance of community support, Stinchcomb emphasizes its impact on the team. “It keeps the morale up. Having my community in the stands supporting us helps. It’s good positive support, and it means a lot to us players.”

Outside of baseball, Stinchcomb enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with friends and family. “I love being outdoors and making memories with the people I care about,” he says.

Looking ahead, Stinchcomb is focused on finishing high school strong and preparing for the next chapter. “I’m planning on going to college to get a degree,” he shares. While he’s proud of his accomplishments on the field, what stands out most to him are the relationships he’s built. “The friendships I’ve made with my teammates – they’re like brothers to me.”

For Stinchcomb, baseball has been more than a game – it’s been a foundation for lifelong memories, growth, and connection.
