McAlester’s Andyn Angeli – Football Spotlight

Heading into his senior season, McAlester’s Andyn Angeli is locked in on growth and consistency. “My personal goals are to improve both physically and mentally,” Angeli said. “I want to push myself to be more consistent, stay disciplined in my training, and be a stronger leader for my team. Whether it’s on the field, in the weight room, or during practice, I’m focused on giving 100% effort every day.”

Even as a newcomer to the program, Angeli has felt right at home. “The team morale has been really positive this year, even with me being new,” he said. “From the start, the team has been welcoming and supportive, which made it easier for me to adjust and feel comfortable. I’ve been doing my best to contribute to that energy staying engaged, working hard, and building chemistry with my teammates.”

That bond has transformed into sharper execution on the field. “The biggest improvement I’ve seen from the team so far is our communication and chemistry,” Angeli said. “At the beginning of the season, we were still learning how to work together, but now you can really see how much better we are at supporting each other, staying connected, and executing as a unit. It’s made a huge difference in how we perform during games and practices.”

The Buffs are chasing high goals this fall. “Some of our team goals this year are to improve our overall record, build stronger team chemistry, and make a deep playoff run,” Angeli said. “Personally, I’m doing my part by staying locked in during practices, pushing myself and my teammates, and staying positive no matter what.”

As a defensive end, Angeli takes pride in his preparation and mindset. “I focus a lot on conditioning, recovery, and nutrition throughout the week,” he said. “When I step on the field, my mindset is all about focus, confidence, and competing at a high level. I block out distractions, trust the work I’ve put in, and stay locked in on my assignments.”

Beyond the field, Angeli has embraced the full McAlester experience. “My favorite memory in a McAlester uniform is energy from the crowd, the way the team comes together, and the feeling of being part of something bigger than myself made it unforgettable,” he said. “It was one of those moments where all the hard work paid off, and I really felt the pride of representing McAlester.”

Looking ahead, Angeli is determined to keep football in his future. “My plans after high school are to go play college football,” he said. “When I graduate from McAlester, I want my legacy to be someone who worked hard, stayed dedicated, and always put the team first.”
