Kiowa’s Preslie Angeli
Hard work, perseverance and a commitment to improvement have become defining traits for Kiowa High School athlete Preslie Angeli.
A freshman who recently transferred to Kiowa, Angeli competes in softball, basketball and cross country. Whether through athletics, academics or extracurricular activities, she has built a reputation for staying dedicated to her goals and pushing herself to improve.
The lessons learned through sports continue to influence her daily life.
“Through softball and basketball, I’ve learned the value of hard work, teamwork, and perseverance. Sports have helped me become not only a better player, but also more confident, responsible, and resilient,” Angeli said.
She credits her friend Braxton Countz with helping her become a better athlete and person.
“If that’s working out or practicing at the softball field she is always besides me pushing me to the best athlete and person I can be,” Angeli said.
After transferring to Kiowa from Stuart, Angeli is embracing a new opportunity while carrying with her the lessons she has learned throughout her athletic career. She values being part of a program where teammates encourage one another, coaches invest in player development and athletes are challenged to improve every day. Those experiences have reinforced the importance of hard work, accountability and supporting those around her, qualities she hopes to continue building throughout her high school career.
Angeli is also involved in FFA, Quiz Bowl and the JOM Club. She has volunteered at the softball team’s snow cone stand, maintained Honor Roll status and participated in National Honor Society activities. Balancing athletics with academics and extracurricular activities has taught her the value of time management and commitment while allowing her to stay connected to her school and community.
“The best advice I’ve received is mistakes don’t define you — it’s how you respond to them that matters. This message has helped me become more confident, resilient, and willing to keep working toward my goals no matter the obstacles,” Angeli said.
That mindset has become one of the driving forces behind her approach to competition. Rather than dwelling on setbacks, Angeli focuses on learning from each experience and continuing to improve, trusting that consistent effort will lead to success over time.
The person she credits most for her success is her father.
“Through every success and setback, he has always been there to support, encourage, and believe in me,” she said.
Now at Kiowa, Angeli is looking forward to continuing her athletic and academic journey while applying the lessons she has learned throughout her career. Her dedication in the classroom, in competition and in the community reflects the values she has developed through sports and the people who have helped shape her journey.
