WILBURTON LADY DIGGERS

COACH: April Wright

OUTLOOK

The Wilburton Lady Diggers enter the 2025-26 season with renewed energy and excitement under new head coach April Wright, who is determined to turn last year’s struggles into a winning campaign. “Going from a losing season to a winning season!! New coach, new philosophy!!” Wright said. “Adding a point guard truly opens the game up for Wilburton girls’ basketball, and a strong freshman class moving up brings a lot of youth and energy to the team!!!”

Leading the way for the Lady Diggers is senior post Laramie Houlton (5-11), a powerful inside presence who brings experience and size to the frontcourt. Junior Aryzona Wright (5’9”, guard/PF) headlines the backcourt and serves as the team’s floor general. “Aryzona Wright truly embodies the team player concept; she makes everyone around her better,” said coach Wright. “The kid can shoot lights out from the arch and get to the rim with ease, she has a great midrange jumper, and you can’t keep the kid off the boards. Z is the kind of point guard that truly creates offense and slows the game down.”

Joining them is junior Sarah Lawrence (4-9, guard), who brings quickness and hustle to the perimeter, along with junior Shannon Stanford (5-7, PF), a dependable forward who can battle in the paint. Sophomore Maysen Anderson (5-9, Post/PF) adds versatility and strength inside, giving Wilburton another capable rebounder and post defender.

Coach Wright is also excited about her underclassmen, particularly freshman Paisleigh Quinones (5-11, post), who has the potential to make an immediate impact. “Soft hands around the rim and great shoulders,” Wright said of Quinones, noting the freshman’s natural ability to finish near the basket and use her size effectively.

With a blend of senior leadership, rising underclassmen, and a fresh coaching approach, the Lady Diggers are aiming to redefine their program’s identity.

The Lady Diggers’ commitment to improvement and their balanced roster under coach Wright’s leadership signal a new era for Wilburton basketball — one built on teamwork, toughness, and belief in the process.
