TITAN COLLINS

SASAKWA HIGH SCHOOL

You might say that Titan Collins is a late bloomer. Just a sophomore this coming season at Sasakwa High School, Collins is already a VYPE TOP 100 pick at wide receiver even though he didn’t start playing football until eighth grade. His freshman year was a bit of a roller coaster according to his coach and stepfather Corky Snodgrass.

“I knew Titan was a good athlete, so I put him at quarterback because he probably knew the X’s and O’s of football better than most. But he suffered a concussion in the third game, so we found a kid with a pretty good arm to play quarterback and moved Titan to his natural spot at wide receiver. We told the quarterback to just throw ball up and Titan or Darius (Henderson) would grab it and in six games Titan had 22 receptions for 622 yards and nine touchdowns and was the Newcomer of the Year in the district,” said Snodgrass. “He’s kind of shy and quiet but by the end of the season he was coming out of his shell and became one of our silent leaders.”

That responsibility might scare some young players, but Titan just takes it in stride.

“I don’t really mind being a leader because we have so many young kids on our team this year,” said the soft-spoken Collins.

Growing up Titan played baseball mostly and that is still his favorite sport among football basketball and baseball. There are several people Titan says have influenced his athletics over the years.

“My grandpa and uncle taught me how to play baseball and I’ve got some pro players that I’ve admired growing up like Kyrie Irving in basketball, Bryce Haper in baseball and Odell Beckham Jr. in football.”

His goals for the upcoming season are simple.

“I don’t really pay much attention to the stats. I would just like to win district for the team this year.”
