Sasakwa’s Titan Collins – Athlete Spotlight

Every great athlete sets personal benchmarks, and for Sasakwa junior Titan Collins, this year’s target is a big one. “Receive 1,000+ yards,” he said without hesitation. That goal has fueled his preparation since the offseason and continues to shape how he approaches each game.

Collins, a dedicated veteran footballer of the Vikings program, has been putting in the work to get there. “By going to more 7 on 7s and living in the weight room,” he explained, noting that improvement comes from consistency and commitment. His favorite part of the game helps push him along. “Running the ball,” he said, describing the thrill of carrying the offense forward.

For Collins, individual stats matter, but the bigger picture always comes back to the team’s vision. “Going to the state playoffs, playing hard every game and always keeping a positive mindset,” he said, outlining Sasakwa’s goals for the season. To reach that point, he knows one key area stands out. “Our passing game,” he said, calling it the team’s biggest strength right now.

On the field, Collins plays both sides of the ball. “I typically play wide receiver and cornerback,” he said of his positions. That versatility means he’s always engaged, but he admits there’s one thing he struggles with. “Anything that’s repetitive,” he said, noting that monotony is the hardest part of practice.

When it’s time to compete, though, his preparation is simple but effective. “Stretching and hydrating,” Collins explained. Once the whistle blows, his mindset is locked in. “Defensively: Get the ball back. Offensively: To make the corner look silly.”

Collins doesn’t shy away from what he wants his career to stand for. “All-state and state champions,” he said when asked about his legacy. That pursuit is driven by the hours of effort most fans never see. “We have put in so much work for this season,” he emphasized.

Music helps him get locked in on game day. “Sanguine Paradise – Lil Uzi Vert,” he shared as his go-to hype song. One of his favorite highlights so far came in a huge moment. “a pick-six before halftime against Maud last year,” Collins recalled.

Beyond football, Collins is a true multi-sport athlete. At 5’11, he’s not only involved in the football program for the Vikings, but also basketball, baseball and cross country. With goals set high, Collins is determined to keep building his name across every sport he touches.
