SASAKWA VIKINGS

Coach: CHRIS JONES

21-5

OFFENSE

Coming off a 21-5 season, the Sasakwa Vikings are returning nearly all of their production from a year ago and expectations are high. Head coach Chris Jones is eager to see what this experienced group can accomplish. “We return our entire starting lineup and nine of our top 10 that played last year,” Jones said. “We finished last year with a 21-5 record and return nine of our top 10 players. We are comprised predominately of sophomores and juniors this season with only two seniors on the roster. We are looking forward to taking the next step for our program this season with much excitement in our school and community.”

The Vikings will once again be led by sophomore Josh Jones, who had a breakout freshman campaign. “Josh Jones (6-1, G/F, So.), a sophomore, returns after averaging 19 points per game as a freshman while being selected All-Conference for the Little River Conference and several All-Tournament team selections and All-State honorable mention,” Jones said. Alongside him is junior guard Micah Wheeler (5-10, G, Jr.), another All-Conference selection.

Additional returning impact players include sophomore forward Nate Read (6-2, F, So.) and junior guard Darius Henderson (5-9, G, Jr.). “We have several players that played valuable minutes that provide a very stable supporting cast led by juniors Titan Collins (6-1, G/F, Jr.), JoJo Lunn (5-9, F, Jr.), Ayden Livesay (6-0, F, Jr.), and sophomores Thad Harjo (6-0, G, So.) and Titus Collins (6-0, F, So.),” Jones said.

DEFENSE

The team also gained important depth with three offseason transfers. “We have also been bolstered by off-season transfers who we anticipate to play significant roles for us in Sherman Mitchell (6-2, G/F, Jr.), a junior who was also All-Conference at Tecumseh, senior Trenton Mack (6-1, F, Sr.), a very valuable sharp shooter from Varnum, and junior Boston Lowe (5-10, G, Jr.) from Holdenville, another scoring option from the perimeter,” Jones said.

The combination of veteran returners and new additions has the Vikings primed for another strong season. “We are excited about our young squad and look forward to the competition that practice will bring out once the season gets here,” Jones said.
