Natalie Jussely’s Q&A– Ada Cheer
VYPE: Can you tell us a little about yourself and how you got started in your sport?
Natalie Jussely: I have always wanted to be a cheerleader. I started pretty young, taking classes at my local cheer gym. I actually switched to gymnastics for a little bit then went back to cheer.
VYPE: What inspired you to play your sport, and who are your biggest influences?
NJ: What inspired me to be a cheerleader was going to football games when I was younger and in middle school. I looked up to the cheerleaders so much because they were so nice and looked like they had the best time.
VYPE: What is your specific role on the team, and how do you prepare for it?
NJ: As of now I am a senior captain so, my job is to keep my team accountable, on track to success and navigate my team to look great.
VYPE: What has been the most challenging moment in your sports career so far, and how did you overcome it?
NJ: The most challenging moment has been this year because I am experiencing burn out. It’s a common thing to go through and it sucks because I don’t want to go to practice or cheer at games, but I don’t want to quit because I love cheerleading. I decided that I was going to stay and do the best I can for the sake of leaving a mark on the team.
VYPE: Who do you look up to as a role model, both on and off the field?
NJ: My mom will forever be my biggest role model in life. She gives the best advice and sets the best examples of a woman.
VYPE: What are some of your hobbies and interests outside of sports?
NJ: Outside of sports I am very involved with aviation. I am currently working towards my private pilot license and spend a lot of my free time taking practice tests.
VYPE: What are your plans after graduating from high school?
NJ: After graduating high school, I plan to attend East Central University and become an RN so that I can later become a skin specialist and open up my own MedSpa. I don’t plan on playing collegiate level sports however, I am considering playing inter mural sports for fun and to keep me active.
