Pauls Valley’s Mason Barahona – Football Spotlight – Presented by Mid-America Technology Center

Mason Barahona – Pauls Valley High School

Once a student enters their high school years, they usually start thinking about what they will do after they graduate. Whether it is to continue their education, enter the workforce, join the military, start a family, or something else, they have to find what is the right fit for them. Mason Barahona is getting a head start on his future by attending Mid-America Technology Center.

“I am in the Diesel Technology program,” Mason said. “When I am out of high school, I will continue a career being a diesel technician, furthering my education in construction management.”

The opportunity to attend Mid-America Technology Center is something that Barahona is thankful for because it is letting him get an early look at his future career.

“I first heard about Mid-America because they came to my school,” he said. “The hands-on workshop helps prepare me for real-life scenarios. It gets hard but that is part of it. I have always been around trucks since I was little and enjoyed working on them.”

Mason is a junior at Pauls Valley High School, where he is a member of the football and wrestling teams. He enjoys competing for the Panthers and the memories he makes on and off the field.

“I enjoy competing because I get to lay it all out on the field with my brothers by my side,” he said. “I have had a few but I think my most memorable moment would have to be seeing everyone’s face whenever we beat one of our rivals. It is a great feeling.”

Throughout his life, there have been a number of people that have had an impact on helping Mason become the athlete and the person that he is today. But he says that there is one person in particular.

“One of the biggest role models in my life is my dad,” Mason stated. “He is the hardest working man I know and he is a great example for me.”
