The Byng Pirates return a focused returning cast with abundant experience. That sprinkled with the presence of a few spry, promising newcomers spells improvements from the Pirates this year. “The 2024 team loses two starters from last year’s team but gains several younger athletes that will contribute to an older team now that has experience at the 4A level,” head coach Markus Carr said. Aubrey Pope (Jr.) has been a staple in the Pirates’ lineup since she was a freshman and may be the team’s most significant returning player this year. “Aubrey will be an upperclassman that will represent our program in the very best ways possible on and off the field,” Carr said. Stormy Musshafen (So.) had a big-time freshman campaign. “We look forward to Stormy doing all the things that go unnoticed by many but are a direct result of our success on the field,” Carr said. Players like Chloe Gaines (Jr.) give the team its heartbeat in the dugout. “You can always count on Chloe and her family to give their best for anyone or anything and that is a great characteristic to have these days,” Carr said. Sophia Townsend (Fr.) is a promising prospect in the circle. “Sophia adds depth to our pitching staff and will throw many innings for us this year,” Carr said.
