Ada’s Brock Boyles – Football Spotlight – Presented by First United Bank Ada

Senior Brock Boyles has done it all as quarterback of the Ada Cougars. For the past three years he has led the Cougars to the Class 4A playoffs, going as far as the state semifinals in 2023. The last two years he has passed for nearly 5000 yards and set the school record for passing yards and touchdowns in a single season last year with 2742 yards and 31 touchdowns. And he’s done it all under the watchful eye of his father and head coach Wade Boyles. “Brock is a rare four-year starter that is the cornerstone of our team,” said dad/coach. “But what sets him apart is who is off the field-a high character young man who has earned the respect of coaches, teammates, teachers and the entire school community. Being his dad and watching him grow and develop has been awesome as well as watching him become a leader of the team.”  In addition to football, Brock also plays baseball which he says he likes a little better because he’s played it longer “but football has grown on me more the last few years.” He and some of his teammates also coach a youth league flag football team. “It’s great to see him giving the benefit of his knowledge to the kids who cheer for him on Friday nights,” said his dad. Brock is part of a large senior group this year that has been together with his dad coaching them almost the entire way and he is cognizant of the long tradition of Ada football as he enters his senior season. “The whole town is behind the team. Folks you don’t know will stop you on the street to ask about the team and the older players all come back to check on you so being a part of that tradition is big.” Early this coming season Brock will break the Ada career passing record, but he has his sights set on taking the Cougars all the way to the throne room in his final season. He is looking at colleges with offers already in hand from OBU and East Central and is thankful to have had his dad by his side on the journey. “He’s been by my side through everything, and it’s been fun to go to the playoffs with him and for him to be with me through recruiting.” He says he would like to be remembered as a good example for the younger generation and a good teammate that you could always talk to.
