Ava Campos, a junior at Ada High School, is a dedicated athlete who shines both on the basketball court and in track and field. As a center and forward for the team, Campos is known for her determination, leadership, and commitment to constant improvement. Her ability to balance sports, academics, and extracurricular activities makes her a standout among her peers.
For Campos, motivation comes from the people around her, especially her teammates and family.
“When things get hard, my teammates motivate me to finish,” Campos said. The team’s support pushes her to give her all in every practice and game. She also desires to make her family proud, channeling their encouragement into every performance.
Campos’ biggest role model is her mom, who she describes as hardworking and mentally tough. Watching her mother stay strong and composed, no matter the situation, has inspired Campos to develop the same mindset in her own life, both in athletics and beyond.
In the classroom, Campos’ pottery teacher has made a lasting impact. She appreciates how her teacher creates a welcoming environment for all students, helping everyone feel comfortable expressing themselves and growing creatively.
Success in sports, Campos shared, has come from sacrifice and persistence. She often gives up personal plans or free time to focus on improving her game. Even on days when motivation is low, she continues to push herself to put in the work, knowing that consistent effort leads to progress.
One of the highlights of her basketball career so far was scoring a career-high 28 points in a game, a moment that reflected her growth and dedication.
Outside of sports, Campos is actively involved in Spanish Club, Serve Club, and Art Club, showing her commitment to both her school and community.
After high school, Campos hopes to earn a college scholarship and pursue a degree in sports medicine, with plans to become an athletic trainer or physical therapist.
To Campos, representing Ada High School means holding herself to a high standard of character. She takes pride in wearing the Ada name, knowing that her actions reflect not only her abilities but also the values of her team, school, and community.
