Ada High School
By Angela Brunk
Amyah Howell, a sophomore at Ada High School, is a talented point guard who leads her team with faith, determination, and passion for the game. As a young but confident leader on the court, Howell brings both skill and composure to the Ada basketball program, embodying what it means to represent her school with pride.
For Howell, her greatest source of motivation is God. Her faith plays a major role in her life, guiding her not only in basketball but also in how she handles challenges and stays grounded. One of the biggest influences in her journey has been Bryce Crawford, who has taught her to follow God and provided valuable lessons about life, purpose, and perseverance.
Howell also credits Ms. Hollenbeck, one of her teachers, for having a profound impact on her life. During difficult times, Ms. Hollenbeck offered constant support and encouragement, helping Howell stay strong and positive. Most importantly, she was the person who helped Howell give her life to Christ, a moment that changed her life forever.
When it comes to basketball, Howell’s success has come from hard work and commitment. She puts in the extra effort both on and off the court to continue improving her game. A major part of her growth also comes from being surrounded by a team with a strong bond. Her teammates push her to overcome challenges and motivate her to keep going even when things get tough.
Looking toward the future, Howell’s goal is to play basketball at the college level. If that opportunity doesn’t come, she plans to attend college to earn a degree in health sciences and pursue a career as an athletic trainer.
To Howell, wearing an Ada High School jersey is about more than just playing basketball; it’s about representing a tradition built on respect, hard work, and unity. “To play for Ada is an honor and a privilege,” she believes. “We don’t just let anyone here. You have to earn respect and show respect.” Howell takes that standard seriously, striving every day to honor her school, her faith, and her team through her actions and attitude.
