ADA COUGARS

Coach: WADE BOYLES

11-2

OFFENSE

After reaching the Class 4A state semifinals last year, the Cougars will enter the 2024 campaign well aware of the expectations for Ada Cougar football. “The kids on this football team have worked hard achieve success,” said Wade Boyles, who steps into head coach position. “We want to continue that momentum by holding each other accountable and expecting nothing but our best effort.” The offensive unit is filled with experienced playmakers including 10 starters led by quarterback Brock Boyles (6-1, 190, Jr.) who completed 102 passes totaling 2004 yards as a sophomore including 24 touchdowns.  VYPE Top 100 nominee Deante Lindsay (6-2,170, Sr.) will again be the go-to-guy at wide receiver after grabbing 36 receptions for 859 yards and making 13 trips to the end zone. A highly recruited Division-I athlete with offers from Texas Tech, Utah, Boston College and UNLV, Lindsay will make the tough catch in a crowd. Sharing the spotlight at receiver will be Lakievin Richardson (5-11, 160, Jr.) who totaled 563 yards receiving while making 25 receptions.  Coach Boyles has high expectations for the ground game where the Cougars will rely upon the skills of Caron Richardson (6-1, 190, Jr.) to balance the offensive attack. “He’s a great back with size, speed and visionwho compliments the offense game plan,” said Boyles. The Cougars will again have size, strength and mobility to win the offensive line conflicts anchored by the return of two-year starter Dawson Matthews (6-5, 270, Jr.).

DEFENSE

The Cougars defensive prowess will remain strong and fast with the return of eight starters from last year.  Kelton Stipe (5-9, 172, Jr.) who averaged 6-plus tackles per game with nine stops for a loss, returns at linebacker along with Eli Justus (5-9, 185, Jr.) who recorded 30 jarring collisions as a sophomore. Will Johnson (6-1, 240, Sr.) enters the 2024 campaign on the defensive line where he charted 50 tackles including six quarterback sacks. The Ada secondary unit whose 21 pass interceptions helped the Cougars establish a healthy takeaway advantage last season will once again be capable of man coverage and solid run support spearheaded by Deante Lindsay, who snared five interceptions in addition to making 51 tackles and will be joined by Camariee Richardson (6-0, 160, Jr.) who made 37 tackles and two interceptions. After opening the season against a trio of Class 5A rivals including a home opener versus Durant before making trips to Ardmore and McAlester, the 2024 district schedule will put plenty of miles on the Cougars travel bus. “We’ve added several new athletes from other sports to build quality depth on both sides of the football,” said Boyles. “When added with the experience we have returning, we’re looking forward to a great season ahead.”
