ADA COUGARS
BOYS
Coach: KYLE CAUFIELD
23-24 Record: 20-8
The Ada Cougars basketball team has high expectations for the 2024 season, aiming for a deep playoff run and a return to the state tournament. This season, the Cougars are the youngest they’ve been in years, but head coach Kyle Caufield believes the team has the talent to make a significant impact. “Our outlook and goal every year is to make a deep run in the playoffs and reach the state tournament,” Caufield stated. “This will be the youngest team we have had in recent years. However, I believe we have plenty of talent and the ability to put ourselves in position to have a great year.”
The Ada Cougars’ roster includes senior leaders like 6’3 guard Tremain Gray (6-3, 165, Sr.), who has been instrumental in past playoff runs with his shooting ability and skill at finishing above the rim. “He has a good handle and shoots it from the outside,” Caufield said. “Good attack downhill and finishes above the rim. He is looking to be a two-year starter and has been a vital part of our last two playoff runs.” Senior Keith Cook (6-1, 180, Sr.), another vital piece, serves as a hard-working and positive team player, known for his leadership and willingness to do whatever the team needs. Additional leaders include Deante Lindsay (6-2, 170, Sr.), a versatile forward, and guard Caron Richardson (6-0, 205, Jr.). “Caron is a big guard who has the ability to finish inside and attack downhill. He played as a sophomore last year and is looking to continue his growth this year,” Caufield said.
Junior players, such as 6’5 forward Owen Wofford (6-5, 205, Jr.) and guards Lakievin Richardson (6-0, 165, Jr.) and Camariee Richardson (6-0, 180, Sr.), bring both experience and potential, ready to elevate their game this season. Wofford, known for his ability to shoot and protect the rim, will play an important role, while Lakievin Richardson’s smooth, slashing style makes him a valuable asset on both ends of the floor.
Sophomore TJ James (6-4, 170, So.), a 6’4 center, is expected to make a strong impact with his rebounding and defensive skills, while junior Miilan Riley (5-11, 160, Jr.) leads by example, encouraging hard work and team spirit.
