OFFENSE
New head coach Reade Box steps into the 2025 season with a group of experienced seniors and a plan to bring physical, disciplined football back to Allen. “We will have great senior leadership,” said Box. “Seniors are Quintin Box, Kayd Bell, Curt Carlos, Ethan Smith, Blake Campbell, and Cash Roberson.” Offensively, the Mustangs will operate out of a spread option look that Box believes gives his team a chance to control the clock and wear down opponents. “Option game is a great equalizer. Ball control teaches physical concept. Great play action. Same offense goal line to goal line,” said Box.
Quarterback Quintin Box (6-3, 200, Sr.) will be under center after transferring from Texas, where he started as a junior. Box is a true three-sport athlete. He’s joined in the backfield by running backs Kayd Bell (5-9, 150, Sr.), Noah Bray (6-0, 175, Sr.), Davison Byrd (6-0, 165, Sr.) and fullback Curt Carlos (6-2, 185, Sr.). The offensive line is anchored by senior Cash Roberson (6-1, 220).
DEFENSE
On the defensive side, the Mustangs will line up in a 3-4 and prioritize speed and physicality. “We want defense to be fun. Keep it simple and let them play,” said Box. “Ability to run is very important. We will put our 11 fastest guys on defense. Hustle and heart are a must.” Box has three clear expectations for his unit: “1. Players will be fundamentally sound. 2. They will know the game plan. 3. They will hit and be aggressive.”
Key defensive players include strong safety Quintin Box, defensive back Kayd Bell, linebackers Curt Carlos and Noah Bray, free safety Davion Byrd, and defensive tackle Cash Roberson.
Keep an eye on future star Brax Wofford, a young wide receiver and defensive back. “Brax is a young speedy wide receiver and DB. He has the height and speed to be a dangerous wide out,” said Box.
