Rattan’s Abigail Crow – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Antlers MotorSports

Sophomore Abigail Crow is determined to turn hard work and faith into a breakout slow-pitch softball season for the Lady Rams.

“This season, my primary goals are to lead the team to the state tournament and improve my hitting performance,” Crow said.

She said the energy around the program has helped fuel that push. “Team morale has been exceptionally high this season,” she said. “I am focusing on being more confident both defensively and offensively.”

For Crow and her teammates, the standard is clear. “Our team’s goal for this year is to return to the state tournament by dedicating ourselves to extra work outside of practice,” she said.

She believes their connection gives them an edge in big moments. “Our greatest strength is the strong bonds of friendship we share and our collective faith in God,” Crow said.

On the field, Crow’s versatility makes her a key piece in multiple spots. “I play third base and catcher,” she said. “This slow-pitch season, the coach wants to give pitching a shot.”

At the plate, she takes a thoughtful approach to each at-bat. “I analyze the defensive alignment as I step into the batter’s box, looking for gaps to exploit,” Crow said.

Her preparation goes far beyond regular practice time. “I’m committed to rigorous physical training, incorporating extra weightlifting, running, and fielding drills to ensure I’m in peak condition,” she said.

Crow’s mental approach ties it all together. “My mindset on the field is laser-focused on executing my role and achieving our team goals,” she said.

She also has a clear vision for how she wants to be remembered. “At Rattan, I aim to be remembered as a player who consistently leads by example and puts in maximum effort,” Crow said.

One moment from last season still stands out above the rest. “My most cherished memory is hitting my first-ever home run – even though it ended up being about five feet foul, it gave me the confidence to know I can really hit one now!” Crow said. “It made all the hard work of fast-pitch season worth it!”

“I’m passionate about both softball and basketball. Outside of sports, I’m involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and love spending time with my friends and family. After high school, I’m hoping to get a softball scholarship and become a registered nurse or maybe go to PA school.”
