TEAM OUTLOOK
With a new head coach at the helm and a young roster ready to compete, the McAlester Lady Buffs softball program is entering a season of transition and promise. First-year head coach Trent Homer knows that success won’t happen overnight, but he’s confident in the direction the program is heading.
“This will be my first-year coaching softball at McAlester, so I don’t have a lot of specific details just yet,” said Homer. “What I do know is that we’re going to be pretty athletic.”
Youth will define the Lady Buffs this season, as the team returns only a couple of starters and features no seniors on the roster. With change comes growth, and Homer is optimistic about what lies ahead.
“There’s a lot of change happening this fall—new coaches, new players, and a fresh start for the program,” Homer said. “I believe we’re heading in the right direction, and there are good things ahead for Lady Buffs Softball!”
KEY PLAYERS
Junior shortstop Rylan Lesnau is a returning two-year starter who brings leadership, consistency, and production to the field. She hit .333 last season with 12 doubles, 20 RBIs, and 14 walks, while also anchoring the defense with a .911 fielding percentage.
Sophomore Addyson Pennington started at second base as a freshman and showed promise at the top of the lineup. With more confidence and a year of varsity experience, she’s expected to be a breakout player this season.
