Ok Ag Credit FFA Spotlight
Bailey Caldwell – McAlester High School
Bailey Caldwell of McAlester High School started showing goats in the sixth grade. That’s when she was exposed to FFA and some of the opportunities FFA had to offer. Once eligible, Caldwell joined the organization and has enjoyed representing MHS ever since.
“My older sister started showing goats in 2020 and then encouraged me to start showing the following year,” said Caldwell.
Now a sophomore, Caldwell said she has enjoyed making new friends and showing livestock.
“What I enjoy most about FFA is the friendships it brings me. I have met so many new people and made many friends through FFA,” Caldwell said. “I show pigs, I do livestock judging, and I’m on the officer team.”
Aside from FFA, you can also find Caldwell competing in softball, track and cheer.
“I have played softball for 13 years, and I play center field,” said Caldwell.
She has plenty of time to decide what life will look like after high school, but the sophomore is devoting some time to figuring some of it out now.
“After I graduate, I am hoping to run track in collage while getting my bachelor’s degree in agricultural education in hopes of becoming an agricultural teacher,” said Caldwell.
As for anyone interested in FFA, Caldwell offers this advice.
“My advice is to join even if you don’t consider yourself “country” FFA is not about being country. There is a lot of things you can do in FFA. There is something that’s suits everyone in FFA.”
