The Stuart Hornets boys basketball team, under the direction of head coach Jeff Weedn, is ready to take on the 2024 season with high expectations. Coach Weedn is thrilled about his returning lineup and the new talent joining the team this year. “We are very excited for this upcoming season!” he shared. “Our team returns 4 of our top 6 players, including 2024 Pitt 8 All-Conference member Nolan Stewart (6-3, 155, Jr.), along with Nolan Lindley (6-0, 160, Jr.), Zackary Luker (6-3, 180, Jr.), and Cody Cook (5-10, 150, Jr.).”
Key additions to the Hornets’ roster include senior transfer Jaxton Weedn (6-2, 180, Sr.), coming from Haworth. Jaxton is highly regarded, earning the title of 2024 McCurtain County MC-6 All-Conference member and the MC-6 Conference Offensive Player of the Year. “Jaxton has superior discipline as a student athlete and a relentless work ethic to continue improving as a basketball player,” Weedn said. The team also welcomes senior transfer Chandler Kelley (5-8, 140, Sr.) from Kiowa, who will add depth and experience to the lineup. Freshman Jaren Weedn, who dominated in junior high competition, is expected to make an immediate contribution as well.
Coach Weedn is confident that his players will adapt quickly to the new system and show consistent improvement as the season progresses. “I believe our boys will quickly adapt to a new system and continue to improve as our season progresses. We have a tough group that is looking forward to competing in a very strong and talented Oklahoma Class B.”
Jaxton Weedn standout senior guard with exceptional talent and academic accomplishments. With a 4.1 GPA and a 27 on the ACT, Jaxton has excelled on the court and in the classroom. He’s averaged 21.7 points per game as a junior and is a consistent leader for the Hornets.
Jaren Weedn (6-0, 160, Fr.) is a freshman with a bright future, following the legacy of his brothers. Jaren has a natural scoring ability and is expected to make an immediate impact.
Nolan Lindley and Zackary Luker, both known for their grit and hard work, these juniors bring high basketball IQ and do the essential tasks that don’t always show up on the stat sheet.
