Hugo’s Allie Desallier – Softball Spotlight – Presented by McCurtain County National Bank

At Hugo High School, Allie DeSellier shines not only on the softball field but also as a symbol of dedication and resilience. As a versatile player in right field and second base, Allie’s journey through the sport is marked by her relentless drive and personal growth. “Wanting to be a better player motivates me,” she said, embodying a commitment to continual improvement.

Her journey in softball has been shaped by both her influences and her challenges. Allie credits her sister and coach Heather Bunn as her biggest role models. “My sister is the kindest person that I know,” she said, highlighting the personal qualities that inspire her. Meanwhile, her coach’s unwavering support has been crucial: “My coach never gives up on me and believes in me. I would like to say thank you to my coach for still believing in me, even when I mess up.”

The road to success in softball is not without its obstacles. For Allie, it has required “hard work and patience.” Her perseverance was notably rewarded when she overcame a hitting slump to achieve a significant milestone: “The highlight moment of my career was when I hit my first double after being in a hitting slump.”

Allie’s involvement extends beyond athletics. She actively participates in student council and band, alongside her softball commitments. Looking ahead, she aspires to “attend a good college and become a teacher,” driven by a desire to make a difference similar to those who have impacted her.

For Allie, representing her school and community holds immense significance. “It means a lot to me to be able to represent my school when I play,” she said, striving to “reflect positively on my school and community on and off the field.”

Allie DeSellier’s journey is a testament to the power of perseverance, personal growth, and community pride, making her a standout role model at Hugo High School.
