Q&A with Hartshorne’s Kannen Osier – Football Spotlight – Presented by Fenton Nissan of McAlester

VYPE: What sports do you play?

Kannen Osier: I play football and baseball.

VYPE: What positions do you play?

KO: My positions in football are defensive end and slot receiver. My position in baseball is catcher.

VYPE: What motivates you?

KO: I think what motivates me is that I get the opportunities to play sports while others

don’t and the love that I have for sports. I just want to be the best I can be at everything I

do.

VYPE: Who are some of your biggest influences or role models? Why?

KO: Some of my biggest influences or role models are my dad and coach Bill Williams

because they push me and hold me accountable each and every day. They also just want me to be the best I can be. They are always trying to better me in sports or just as a man.

VYPE: What teacher has had the biggest impact on your life? How?

KO: The teacher that has had the biggest impact on my life is coach Justin James because he

is one of the greatest men I’ve ever met but he’s had a big impact on me because of how godly of a man he is away from church. He’s godly around everyone and I strive to be as

religious as him every day.

VYPE: What has been the highlight moment of your career?

KO: The highlight moment of my career is my sophomore making it to the playoffs again

after seven years of Hartshorne not making it to the playoffs.

VYPE: Anything you would like to add?

KO: I just want to thank all the people that put into Hartshorne athletics and all my coaches

from the bottom of my heart.

VYPE: What are your plans after high school?

KO: My plan after high school is to go to Oklahoma State University institute of Technology

for their electrical construction program.

VYPE: What does it mean to you to represent your school and community when you play?

KO: What does it mean to me to represent my school and community when I play. I am honored to represent my school and this community through sports, and it is a big responsibility. It means that I have to be a great role model to the younger kids below me getting ready to take my place.
