OFFENSE

The Savanna Bulldogs enter the 2024 season ready to take on the challenge of competing in Class B1, backed by a strong core of returning starters. Senior quarterback Madden Smith will lead the offense. Madden was a solid performer last season, getting better each week. He throws stellar passes and has the ability to run when needed. Smith’s dual-threat abilities will be key as the Bulldogs look to improve on last year’s performance.

Senior fullback Garrett Ward is another pivotal piece of the offense. Garrett is a determined runner who gets the tough yards when Savanna needs them. In addition to being a receiving threat out of the backfield, Ward will play linebacker on defense, where he excels as a tackler and pass defender. Ryan Ward, a senior who is transitioning from guard to center, will make the offensive line calls. Ryan’s blocking ability is special. He’s great at adjusting to defensive alignments and stunts on the fly. Ward’s role in directing the offensive line will be crucial to the Bulldogs’ success.

DEFENSE

On defense, the Bulldogs are counting on their experienced players to set the tone. Carter Sullivan, another senior, will anchor the defensive line from the tackle position. Carter is a returning starter, and his presence will be felt both on offense and defense. He’ll be playing guard on offense, but his contributions on the defensive side will be essential for stopping opposing teams. Junior Cody Wood is another player expected to make a big impact. Playing on both the offensive and defensive lines, his strength and versatility will be a significant asset. Alongside him, sophomore tailback and corner Aiden Totani and junior lineman Hayden Parker will also play pivotal roles for the Bulldogs.
