Haworth’s Alyssa Farley, Alyssa Long and Raymi Robinson – Softball Spotlight – Presented by Pine Cellular

At Haworth High School, juniors Alyssa Farley, Alyssa Long and Raymi Robinson form the core of their softball team, embodying dedication, teamwork, and leadership both on and off the field. “That’s our core group at the moment; the kids honor real students,” head coach Sarah Morgan said. “They really are good kids; the ones that make your job easy because they do the right thing.”

Alyssa Farley began her journey in softball early and discovered her passion for the sport in her sophomore year. “Long and I have played since little league. We brought in Robinson freshman year. Softball has grown on me tremendously, especially sophomore year,” she said. Farley’s role as a pitcher is a source of pride, boosting her confidence and helping her team achieve remarkable success. “We won more games in fast pitch season this past season than Haworth has in almost eight years!”

Alyssa Long

Raymi Robinson was introduced to softball in her freshman year by her friends and quickly fell in love with the sport. “What made me fall in love with the sport is the energy that came from being surrounded by inspiring people who were always trying to help improve me.” Her most memorable game involved going 3-for-3 with line drives to the outfield, showcasing her offensive prowess. Raymi’s biggest obstacle has been adapting to hitting from the left side, but with determination, she has turned it into a strength.

Alyssa Long has been passionate about softball since she was young. “At seven years old, I was interested in playing the sport, and from then on, I have always loved playing and watching softball!” Long’s leadership was evident in a memorable game against Soper, where her clutch hit led the team to a thrilling victory. Overcoming the challenge of overthinking, she has grown into a confident player and leader, always encouraging her teammates to improve and stay positive.

The trio has set ambitious goals for themselves and their team. Farley aims to refine her pitching and team development;Robinson focuses on defense and overall improvement and Long works on her hitting and catching skills. They all emphasize the importance of confidence and support from their community. “We tend to play our best when we have more fans and support!” Farley said.

Looking ahead, the three juniors have diverse aspirations. Farley plans to major in sports medicine, Robinson envisions a business career after attending Connors State College, and Long aims for a master’s degree in speech-language pathology.
