ATOKA WAMPUS CATS

Coach: JACOB CUPP

3-7

OFFENSE

Atoka is set to make strides this season with an experienced offense leading the charge. “If we continue to get better on defense, find a way to control the clock on offense and create some big plays with our playmakers, we have a chance to be successful,” said head coach Jacob Cupp. The offense will be driven by senior quarterback Peyton Pugh (5-9, 175, Sr.), who boasts 1,405 career passing yards and 18 passing touchdowns. Key targets for Pugh include wide receivers Prince Coleman (6-2, 175, Sr.) and LJ Lafaver (5-9, 175, So.). Coleman, an excellent athlete, is expected to make significant contributions this season. “Prince is a big body who can go get the ball at the highest point and has playmaking speed,” Cupp said. The backfield features senior JD Bland (5-10, 210, Sr.) and sophomore Ezekiel Brooks (5-10, 160, So.). The offensive line is anchored by senior center Dylan Clark (5-11, 250, Sr.). Atoka runs a multiple I formation and aim to control the clock by establishing a strong run game.

DEFENSE

The Wampus Cats’ defense, operating out of a 50 base, is geared towards stopping offenses and controlling the tempo of the game. “Our goal is to stop the run and limit the big plays,” said Cupp. The defensive line is led by seniors TylenRector (6-0, 185, Sr.) and Hayden Cooper (6-2, 220, Sr.), both bringing power and experience to the trenches. The linebacker corps features senior Tristan Coben (6-0, 195, Sr.) and junior Wade McCall (6-2, 195, Jr.), who are expected to provide intensity and leadership. In the secondary, junior Kyzer Mullins (6-2, 170, Jr.) will play a crucial role in coverage. Sophomore Zach Jim (5-11, 180, So.) is highlighted as an all-around athlete capable of making plays on both sides of the ball. With nine returning starters on defense, Atoka is confident in their ability to set the tone and disrupt opponents.
